An early work ~ 2nd Place prize in "Boots" at the World Leather Debut in Sheridan Wyoming 2017.

A welted-construction ladies' boot, the vamps, counters and tops are a llama leather with glazed kid inlay and calf overlay.

Wisteria leaves and curling tendrils inspired this boot design, and the flickering shadows of summer on our lives. Women adorned linens with hand-embroidered monograms in the late 1800s, echoed here in a marriage with the Western boot tradition of branding a boot top with initials.

These boots evolved into an art piece exploring removal upon removal of an ephemeral moment through process: shadow > photo > photocopy > pounce pattern > leather > 3-D scan > 3-D print > rubber mould > bronze cast.

They now speak to the human desire to preserve the fleeting moments of childhood footsteps in bronze.
